Hrebienok
Hrebienok is the starting point of several hiking trails. One can get to “Hrebienok” by funicular railway or by foot through the road or forest path (approx. 45 min.).
Zamkovského Chalet (45 min.)
Simple and very pleasant mountain trail leads from “Hrebienok” through so-called "Tatranská magistrála” (Tatra hiking highway). During the journey you can stop at Rainer's cottage, where you can get various information about the history of sherpa´s in the Tatras. On this route you will pass through the “Studený potok” (Cold stream) river and go around the “Obrovský vodopád” (Giant waterfall). The aim of this route is Zamkovského Chalet where you can freshen up (in the menu, you can find also “Buchty”cakes).
From Zamkovského Chalet there are more options where to go, such as to Téryho Chalet, or Skalnaté Pleso lake. Both these routes are described below.
If you decide to go back to “Hrebienok”, you can also use the route towards “Studenovodské vodopády” (Cold stream waterfalls) that runs along Studený potok river.
Sliezsky dom alpine hotel (2 hrs.)
Relatively simple route will lead you to the foot of “Slavkovský štít” peak to “Velická dolina” valley, where this alpine hotel can be found along with the “Velické pleso” lake. The mountain hotel you can freshen up and continue the other hiking tours (Batizovské Pleso lake, Popradské Pleso lake, Poľský hrebeň strait, or Východná Vysoká peak).
If you decide to come back, you have several options. You can go the same route to “Hrebienok”. Alternatively, you can choose the route to Starý Smokovec (yellow line), or Tatranské Zruby (yellow and blue line). If you are very tired, you might choose a road to Tatranska Polianka (approx. 30 min.), where the stop of Tatra electric railway is.
Studenovodské vodopády falls and Rainerova Cottage (30 min.)
Easy walk along the “Studený potok” river will lead you to the waterfalls. Then you can continue to Rainer's cottage, and then using the hiking highway you can go back to “Hrebienok” (or proceed to Zamkovského Chalet, or Téryho Chalet).
Slavkovský štít peak
Lengthy, almost 6 hour hike. Start is at “Hrebienok” and goes towards “Sliezsky dom”. After about 20 minutes you reach the crossroad that will lead you towards “Slavkovský štít”. Path back leads along the same route.
Téryho Chalet (2 hrs. 45 min.)
Moderately strenuous hike. Leads from the hiking highway after a Zamkovského Chalet and continues trhough “Malá Studená dolina” (Little Cold Valley). The most difficult stretch is a steep climb to the Chalet, so called "Hang", which examine the physical condition of all tourists. Téryho Chalet is a pleasant rest from further hikes. On Téryho Chalet you can admire the view of “5 Spišských plies” (Five lakes), or views of Tatra villages and it is not and exception to see the typical Tatra animals - chamois and marmots.
Zbojnícka Chalet
Moderately difficult trail that leads from hiking highway. The path leads along “Studený potok” river and turns left towards “Zbojnícka chata” direction, and continues to “Veľká Studená dolina” (The Great Cold Valley). Veľkou Cold Valley Cold Creek flows Veľký, which along with a small confluence of Cold Creek to create a cold stream. Veľká Cold Valley provides a spectacular view of the surrounding peaks as Slavkovský shield tip and the middle.
Skalnaté Pleso lake
The route to “Skalnaté Pleso”( Rocky lake) is easy. Start is identical from “Hrebienok” towards “Zamkovského Chalet”. At Zamkovského Chalet you have to turn right to direction “Skalnaté pleso”.
Back you can get the same route, or you may find a cable car to Tatranska Lomnica.
